AIRDRIVE ROTOR
The reel boasts an AIRDRIVE ROTOR engineered to be incredibly rigid and with minimal flex, especially at high drag pressures. Critically designed cut-outs reduce the weight of the rotor, itself. The lighter the rotor, the less force it takes to spin around the reel, making it easier to turn the handle.
AIRDRIVE BAIL
It features a solid AIRDRIVE BAIL, which further reduces weight and offers more rigidity than standard wire, minimizing concerns over flex, bending, or breaking. The thicker material feels better to the fingers when flipping the bail as well. Other benefits include excellent line entanglement prevention performance.
AIRDRIVE SPOOL
The stand out features of the AIRDRIVE SPOOL would have to be the newly shaped spool skirt and the simple single silver coloured cosmetic. Just by looking at the spool it is clear the structure has been redeveloped, reducing the weight and maximising the feeling of presence.
ZAION V
The new super composite material developed by Daiwa to further improve the performance of Light & Tough reels: it is as light as its “big brother” Zaion and much stiffer and more resistant to stress than DS5 and DS4 materials. The mechanical properties of the Zaion V allow to create bodies and rotors of lighter weight than the DS5 and DS4 materials: the internal mechanics can therefore work better, guarantee greater fluidity and greater resistance to fatigue, resulting in lighter and more performing reels. . But that is not all! Zaion V is a composite based on carbon fibers therefore totally insensitive to corrosion, even when used in salt water.

MAGSEALED
Daiwa’s unique waterproof structure shuts out the intrusion of seawater and dust by creating a magnetic oil wall and maintains a light and smooth initial rotation performance for a long period of time. The pinion gear is equipped with a MAGSEALED ball bearing that applies this technology to the ball bearing itself, which is the key to rotational performance. The waterproofness, durability, and rotation performance are further improved assuming use in salt water.
ATD TYPE-L
New generation drag system. New ATD TYPE-L drag technology improves the initial drag system response. Lowering the peak drag max upon hook setting. Light tackle fishing especially requires a responsive and sensitive adjustment of the drag pressure. ATD TYPE-L allows anglers to have more control of the drag without stress during the fight.
ABS-LONGCAST
Compared to conventional spools, the LC-ABS has been shown to increase the average flight distance by approx. 5% due to its reduced weight and modified shape.
